Stephen “Steve” Kerns

Mr. Kerns is teacher at the Mesa Transitional Learning Center, located at the Mesa Juvenile Detention Center.  He has been with MCRSD since July 2010.  Prior to his current position, Mr. Kerns taught Structured English Immersion classes for MCRSD at the Southwest Key Program facility in Phoenix.  He has been a high school level teacher in Arizona for three years.  He previously worked in marketing and advertising for many years.  His B.A. degree is in English, and he holds an M.A. in Education from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix.  When not in the classroom, he is active in a variety of civic and community groups.   Mr. Kerns also enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and a variety of other outdoor pursuits.
